With HealthEquity Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits, employees are able to pay for qualified commuting transit, vanpool, and parking expenses using pre-tax dollars. Reduce your commuting expenses and save money!
Use pre-tax dollars to save on commuting expenses. You can save on average 30 - 40% of your commuting costs just by using pre-tax Commuter Benefits. Use pre-tax dollars to pay for up to $315 per month of transit or vanpool expenses. In addition, you can use pre-tax dollars to pay for up to $315 per month of parking expenses. The program is easy to use. There’s no open enrollment period, and you can sign up, pause or cancel contributions at any time. Savings vary by person depending on your salary and monthly commuting expenses.
This benefit is for Stanford employees with qualified commute expenses, including transit (train, bus, BART, ferry), vanpool, or parking expenses.
Once you have established an account, you can place monthly orders and use your pre-tax dollars to purchase transit, vanpool, or parking.
One way to do this is to have your funds loaded onto a reloadable commuter card, which you can use to purchase eligible commuting expenses. The commuter card will be mailed to you and will be re-loaded each time you place an order. You can also use your pre-tax dollars to order transit passes or Caltrain parking permits, in addition to other options, including loading your Clipper card.
Orders must be placed by the 10th of the preceding month. For example, to receive an order in March, place your order by February 10th.
Please remember to keep track of your account balances online to make sure your pre-tax deductions do not exceed your expenses. Adjust your orders, as necessary, so you do not accumulate excess funds. Federal tax codes specify that pre-tax deductions are non-refundable.

- Once you have arrived on the HealthEquity account page, select "Parking" or "Transit" to place an order
